8/9/2023 0 Comments Anthony wedo chikdhood bio![]() ![]() While working for an investment bank after graduation, Teah volunteered in the community and co-taught an afterschool class at a local middle school for the nonprofit organization Citizen Schools. Teah is straight out of the Bull City - Durham, NC - and a graduate of NC State University where he majored in business administration with a concentration in finance. He is both honored to be a Jaffe Peace Corps Fellow within the social studies program at TC and excited about the privilege of teaching in New York City public schools. As an educator, Zach is deeply committed to building a classroom that provides the space for his students to reimagine the world and create more just and equitable futures for all people. in Youth Studies from the City University of New York School of Professional Studies. Since 2015, he has worked as the Program Director for America SCORES New York, a youth serving organization in New York City that uses soccer, poetry and civic engagement as tools for social justice youth development. In 2013, he began his service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine where he served at a vocational school where students learned to drive tractors, become construction workers and cooks. For the past 14 years, he has worked as an educator and youth development professional throughout the U.S. in Political Science from the College of Saint Rose. Zach was born and raised in Albany, New York, the same city where he eventually received his B.A. She hopes to get involved with educational policy after teaching social studies in New York City. The success of this program is what led Ashley to continue her work with students and youth not only globally, but nationwide. Ayeni’s most notable achievement came in the form of her founding of the all-girl after school program “One of a Kind Girl” to help combat the prevalent issues of low self-esteem and poor academic performance amongst the youth in the community. Ashley served in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a literacy specialist and worked with the Ministry of Education to promote literacy and advanced learning throughout the island. ![]() This experience directly prompted her to serve in the United States Peace Corps upon graduation. ![]() Driven by creating equal opportunity and resources for underserved populations, Ashley found her true passion was fostering academic and personal growth for students. During those four years, she partnered with families, principals and education professionals to help them best serve students throughout Athens, Georgia. While pursuing this degree, she worked at various after-school programs as an elementary school mentor and tutor. Ashley attended the University of Georgia where she majored in fashion merchandising, with an emphasis on global sourcing. As a first-generation Nigerian American, the importance of education was imprinted on her heart at a very early age. Ashley Ayeni was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Atlanta, Georgia just before starting elementary school. ![]()
